Classic OB - superb soundfont, small in file and sample size but amazing in sound.
The looping is perfect, and the multi-layer structure gives great expression when
played on the keyboard. This is my favourite and I learned a lot from its structure.
Originally created by Karsten Slickers in 1998 this is still available as a free
download from several sites, though I have been unable to track down the author.
WT-Oboe - This is a good example of how realistic you can get when the samples are
really good and attention to detail in the soundfont structure. This was created
by Wang Tao and is available as a free download from several sites, though again
I have been unable to track down the author.
I am including a small section of downloadable sf2s, primarily to demonstrate the
versatility of the format. These are either my own or ones which I have modified
and feel are improvements upon the originals. Other than this check the links I have
included for the best download sites.
This is a small group of soundfonts which I have manipulated from standard sound
samples to provide expression and tonal variations e.g. softer sound on quiet piano
notes, slow and medium slow strings etc.
